Jos Duncan Asé : When I was young and decided my artistic practice as a storyteller and narrative change agent would be central to my life and livelyhood, I would look to the lists Leeway Foundation, Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, and the MacArthur Center ‘genius’ awards for inspiration and to see models for success… When I was asked what it means to be named a Pew Fellow, I was emotional because it not only affirmed that my work is recognized among some of the most prestigious artists in Philadelphia, but it signified that some young artist somewhere might be looking up to me and modeling the career I have built. I am grateful for this honor and I truly thank the nominators and reviewers for seeing me. Thank you to all of my collaborators and supporters for all of your contributions. All of this feels like something bigger. Asé ❤️
