SIFTER Charlese Hawkins-Hatton produced the pilot for STAGES in 2019 and won the “Inclusion Award” at the Cammy Awards – an awards show created and produced by PhillyCAM.   This exposure expanded her team to include producers Annette Burgess and Naomi Fota (Gurlco Media) the 3 have worked on the piece over the last two years and now are ready to start shooting S+ages: The Web Series (5 parts).

S+ages: The Web Series follows the lives of three women over age 40,  whose lives are touched by HIV. The friendship between Celestia, Victoria, and Miriam deepens as they get real about life’s ups and downs and what is truly important in their lives – love, laughter, and sisterhood.

The concept for the show is based upon personal accounts from Black women with HIV and their desire to live authentically beyond the diagnosis. In 2019, the CDC reported that Black women continue to be disproportionately impacted by HIV, accounting for nearly 60% of new HIV infections in US women, despite only making up less than 15% of the female population.

S+ages: The Web Series tackles stigmas and ignorance that remain prevalent in our communities, and brings a message of hope. A positive diagnosis should not prevent anyone from living their life out loud.
