SIFT is happy to be a Supporter of Big Picture Alliance’s COmmunity VIDeo Resiliency Project  –Premiering documentary films by Philly youth uplifting stories of resilience during the COVID pandemic. Followed by a discussion with the filmmakers & community partners reflecting on “a year of resilience and the road ahead”.

Blossom (2020, 6:42 min) dir. Tyson Ronon Skinker & Demi Sills

Blossom is a short documentary about how Covid-19 has impacted young Philadelphia artists, and how many have continued evolving as creators throughout the pandemic.

A short documentary exploring how the digital divide is both a public health & education crisis in Philadelphia and why the internet should be a public utility for everyone, especially students & teachers.

This short documentary examines how Asian American organizations in Philadelphia are working to keep their communities safe from COVID-19 and racism spurred by the pandemic.

College Bound in a Pandemic (2020, 9:35 min) dir. Theo Wyss-Flamm

This short documentary explores some of the factors, decisions, and alternatives that local college students are faced with during the COVID pandemic.

Home (2020, 3:57 min) dir. Cindy Pham

As quarantine forces a young woman to confront her estranged relationship with her family, she embarks on a personal journey for inner peace.

The Power of Small (2020, 10:00 min) dir. by Talaya Martin-Smith

A college senior explores COVID’s impact on campus life and the way her community has worked to stay safe & healthy while heading towards graduation.

This Choice Is Our Voice (2020, 9:13 min) dir. Jose Quintana

A short documentary about the power of youth voice in voting and social change. It features Vote That Jawn, a youth-led initiative working to increase voter participation among their peers and communities.

Community partners include: PhillyTechJustice, Philadelphia Student Union, Racial Justice Organizing Committee, Asian Americans United, Modero & Company, Vote That Jawn, Young Philly Artists, OIC Workforce Academy, and Rosemont College. Supported by The Philadelphia COVID Community Information Fund, The Knight-Lenfest Local News Transformation Fund, and The Independence Public Media Foundation.
